What this quote means is that even if you lose at something
you lost fair and square. And it is better to have lost fairly than have won
cheating because if you cheat all your life to technically did not do anything
and if you do accomplish your goal you would technically did not accomplish your
goal because you did not get their by yourself. If you have always wanted to be
a police man and you go to the police academy and you cheat all the way thru
you would not know what to do once you get your badge so that is why it is
always important to do everything honestly.
